The virtual New York City Marathon window opens today: October 24 through November 1. Runners choose their own location and record their effort through Strava.
There are two different formats.
The Virtual TCS New York City Marathon requires the full distance in one activity on one day.
The Virtual TCS New York City Marathon Challenge lets you accumulate the distance over several days within the window, or complete it in a single day. Registration terms and rewards differ. NYRR event rules
Nine days can mean choosing your race date or adding up your kilometers. It depends on which event you entered.
Either way, New York can begin right outside your door.
